Operations automation: replaced 30 hours/week of spreadsheet work
Scheduled imports, validation rules, exception queues and a clean audit trail. The team stopped firefighting and started reviewing exceptions.
The brief
A New Zealand operations team was maintaining a critical workflow in a shared Excel workbook. Errors compounded, the audit trail was a Slack channel, and the team lead spent half her week chasing exceptions.
What I built
- Server-scheduled import/validation pipeline with typed exception queues.
- Lightweight web review UI for the ops team.
- Daily digest email so management sees the same numbers the team does.
Outcome
Roughly 30 hours a week of manual work eliminated. Exception rate dropped because validation runs the moment data lands.
